Network+ Certification is a testing program sponsored by CompTIA that is
geared toward technicians with 18 to 24 months experience in the IT
industry. Network+ Certification is a non-vendor, non-product specific
certification program that validates your knowledge as a networking
professional and demonstrates a wide range of skills required in today's
network environments. The program was developed with the support of major
computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers, and
publications in the industry.
Network+
Certification covers two main areas of competency: Networking Technology
and Networking Practices. The Network+ course offered at Network
Professionals Training Group is a four week class that prepares students to
take the Network+ exam. Furthermore, the Network+ Certification many times
is the first step in achieving a Windows 2000 MCSE or CNE Certification.
Audience
Network+ Certification is suited for computer technicians with 18 to 24
months experience who are searching for a challenging career in the
administration and support of complex internetworking environments.
Prerequisites
Students should have a good background in PC technology before taking the
Network+ course. Network+ Certification is designed for students who have a
basic understanding of technology concepts, especially in the area of computer
networking infrastructure. It is suggested that students have their A+
Certification or equivalent IT-related work experience to adequately
prepare them.
Acquired Skills
At course completion, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of
Network Troubleshooting, TCP/IP, Network Operating Systems, Network
Installation and Upgrading, Managing User Accounts and Passwords, Remote
Access and Administration, and Fault Tolerance and Disaster Recovery.
Requirements
The two-part Network+ Certification exam must be completed within 90
minutes. Most of the exam tests your knowledge of network technology,
including the various systems and protocols involved: the physical, data
link, network, and transport layers, TCP/IP issues, remote connectivity,
and security. The remainder of the exam tests your ability to install,
maintain, and troubleshoot a network. The exam is scored on a 100 to 900
scale. A minimum scaled score of 752 is required to pass.
